Howling Wolves!!!!

Last Friday the first WIS Wolves Spirit Day of the year was held. Students and teachers in the middle school came dressed in the new black Wolves t-shirts and hoodies. Due to the Winter WOW rehearsal we were able to get all the students and teachers from both campuses together for an all-photo. If you would like to see more photos please go to Mr. Cooper's wiki site homepage (http://wis-pe.wikispaces.com) and on left side click on WIS Wolves Spirit Day. We plan to have more Spirit Days in the future so stay tuned. Go WOLVES !!

Girls Basketball Team Celebrates St. Nicholas Day

On December 6 was St. Nicholas Day and the middle school girls basketball team recently celebrated this holiday at one of their practices. Each team member secretly chose a name from a hat of another team member. They then had to buy a small gift for that person and bring it to the next practice. The idea was to celebrate this holiday and do something fun to bring the team closer together.

CAS activities in December

This month we had to two important events.

We cooperate with foundation "Wroclawskie Hospicjum dla Dzieci" (Wroclaw Hospice for Children). The foundation asked us to prepare a Christmas decoration for 1 or 2 of 80 poor families they help everyday. This decoration was supposed to give them the spirit of Christmass and the feeling that there are people who care about them. Hannah Smith and Oliver Stania created two beautiful decorations that you can see in the pictures below. Thank you Hania and Oliver.

Christmas presents for children at the Nephrology hospital

This big action was organised with Atut students. Aga Smith, JiWon Lee and Unna Paavolainen had decided to coordinate this action in our school. Thanks to them all middle school students created small Christmas ornaments that were sold during Winter Wow. I'm happy to say that our students raised 500 zl. Students used this money to buy small presents for children at the Nephrology Hospital (for sick children). On Thursday we visited the children in hospital. How was it? Please read Unna's reflection about the event.

Today Friday 15th, JiWon, Hae Chang and I visited the hospital with two other girls from ATUT. We went there to give them Christmas presents. We went to the hospital by bus. After we got there we waited for Iwona Trypka, the children's special teacher to come and show the way to this children's section of the hospital. She lead us to this special room and then went to get the 4-6 year old children. After the children came to the room, we introduced ourselves and played a game called "Simon says". Then we gave the presents and we went to the 8-17year old children's meeting place. We introduced ourselves again and then gave them the presents. They wanted to show the places where they sleep and eat etc. We went to the girls' room while Hae Chang was playing chess with the boys. One of the girls taught us how to make a flower from post it notes and then JiWon taught us some origami too. Then it was timeto say goodbye and we left the hospital and traveled back to school.
I think that the kids really enjoyed the meeting and it was succesful.

You can see pictures from this event . Thank you Aga, JiWon and Unna for your effort and time you spent on organizing the event.
